Montour JV Team Back On Track, Blank N. Hills 3-0
By T LigouriJanuary 30, 2010
Behind another shutout performance by goaltender Jim Brutt and a potent offensive onslaught of 44 shots on North Hills goalie Ryan Gayso our Montour Spartan JV hockey team came away victorious beating the Indians 3-0.
Penalties figured into all three Montour tallies as two were on power plays and one was shorthanded. Captain Chris Beltz got things started at 9:27 of the first period on a power play goal assisted by Assistant Captain Travis "Tritt" Clark.(He sings in the locker room) The period would end with Montour leading 1-0.
At 0:49 of the second period the Spartans got a goal from Bryan Boyle as he cleaned up the loose garbage in front on an assist from Beltz. At 3:21 of the second period Montour found itself down a man, but caught the Indians defense sleeping and broke out two on one into the offensive zone. This may have been the prettiest Montour goal of the season to date. Beltz put a beautiful tape to tape pass onto Clarks stick who buried a one timer high over Gayso to complete the scoring on the evening.
The JV Team next faces off against the "blue devils" of Mount Lebanon on Monday February 1, 2010 at 7:30pm on the "Island". This will be a tough one. Come support us as we attempt to exorcise the devils.
