The Montour Spartan JV Hockey Team faced off Monday night with unbeaten Chartiers Valley in a game that ended in a 2-2 deadlock. The teams were up and down the ice the entire contest with the Colts outshooting the Spartans 26-23. Goalie Nathan Thomas stopped 24 shots to preserve the tie.

After a scoreless first period Montour got the scoring started at 2:24 of the second period on a power play goal when Assistant Captain Travis Clark took a pass from Captain Chris Beltz and let go a lazer beam of a slap shot from the top of the circle which beat the Colt goalie high to the blocker side. The Colts would tie the score just 31 seconds later on a goal by James Altvater assisted by Jude Scumaci.

CV took the lead just 9 seconds into the third period on a goal by Kevin Kocak assisted by Robert Ferrari to make it 2-1 Colts. The Spartans came right back 27 seconds later to tie it up on a sniper style wrist shot off the stick of Bryan Boyle beating the goalie high, assisted by Travis Clark. The final 11:24 went scoreless and the game ended tied.

The Spartans suffered a couple of injuries to players including a leg injury to Vince Cataldo and a knee injury to Austin Kronz. Cataldo was forced to leave the ice due to his injury. The Spartans are off until next Monday November 16 at 9:40pm and will take the time to heal what are hopefully minor injuries. The Spartans will play the Dragons of Taylor Allderdice at Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.
